We use them day in and day out, yet it's easy to neglect your duty to properly cleanse your makeup brushes.

Despite the seemingly tedious task, it's incredibly important to regularly clean your bristles in order to ensure hygiene, as well as to ensure a perfect cosmetic application.

And while their are several suggestions of how often you should wash your utensils floating about the beauty world, we here at DIY think every two to three weeks seems to be the best bet.

As for just what drugstore solution will have your brushes sparkling clean without the risk of breaking down bristles? Baby shampoo! That's right, just a drop of this ultra-sensitive cleanser, rub and a bit of water and they'll be good to go.

By keeping to this routine brushes don't have the chance to get completely matted down with cosmetic gunk - in-turn making the process speedy and successful.
