Sephora: Going High-Tech for Foundation

With the increase of customizable products on the market, Sephora is all about helping their customer base get just the right shade of foundation.

The cosmetics chain has introduced Color IQ, a new device that contains an advanced spectro-colorimeter that enables consumers to discover their exact complexion color.

From there, the high-tech camera shoots 81 photos to determine the Pantone SkinTone number which corresponds to the store’s retail offerings.

Additionally, there’s an iPhone app that will take the SkinTone ranking and suggest different products that will match the owner’s skin perfectly.

For now, only Sephora’s Times Square, NYC store has the technology but more outlets are likely to join in this fall.
