Wedding Dress Shopping This Weekend? Here's a $99 Gown

Contrary to popular belief, getting married doesn’t have to put newlyweds deep in debt, and H&M is here to help keep costs down.
According to a new release, the Swedish discount retailer has just unveiled a new wedding dress, priced at an astoundingly-low $99!
The Grecian-flavored white gown is actually quite pretty, especially considering that most bridesmaids dresses have a higher price tag.
And though it’s somehow universally accepted that brides have to break the bank for their big day, perhaps H&M is looking to buck the trend.
Economist Veronica Guerrieri told Planet Money that the wedding industry constantly pressures couples to ‘go all-out’ even though there are far more economic ways to get hitched. “I think that on average there is a lot of status and signaling going on wedding day.”
If H&M’s maiden voyage into bridal wear goes well, hopefully we’ll see even more wedding dresses on the way!
