2014 CFDA Fashion Awards: Standouts & Winners

Posted Tuesday June 3, 2014 8:10 AM GMT

It’s never boring when the Council of Fashion Designers of America hands out trophies, and the CFDA Fashion Awards had plenty of exciting ensembles meandering around Alice Tully Hall in New York City last night (June 2).

Pop superstar Rihanna gave the world yet another look at her fabulous form in a custom gown crafted by Adam Selman. Of the dress, Selman explained, “We definitely wanted to make it a little bit scandalous. The dress is just fishnet and crystals and a couple of fingers crossed. But fashion is about beauty, and the [female] body is part of that.”

Also looking oh-so-gorgeous was Blake Lively, who brought back the headband and teamed it with a flirty floral frock from the Michael Kors Resort 2015 collection.

Joan Smalls was the epitome of femininity in a Prabal Gurung gown while Beth Behrs took a chance that paid off with her Alice + Olivia crop top dress.

Unfortunately, Lupita Nyong’o’s risky Suno New York outfit proved to be a bit too busy for even the most avant garde style guru.
