Donna Karan Debuts City-Chic Fall '12 RTW Collection at NYFW
She's the mainstay when it comes to timeless style, and on Sunday (February 12), Donna Karan debuted her city-chic fall 2012 RTW during New York Fashion Week.
The venue was packed, hosting celebrities such as Coco Rocha, Nina Dobrev and the new face of DKNY’s spring campaign, Ashley Greene, in the house.
One of the most interesting aspects of the DKNY's show was the backdrop. The doors were open to the city's bustling West 26TH street with a yellow taxicab parked along the curb. Models entered the catwalk directly from the sidewalk outside. What a better way to embrace Big Apple fashion than to present it straight off the streets of NYC themselves!
A common theme seen throughout the collection was the incorporation of leather. Whether it was a jacket, belt or skirt – you name it, Donna Karan made it. And speaking of belts, the hottest accessory in Karan's offering was the wide reptile belt she used to synch the waist of models wearing large fur coats and parkas – a great rule of thumb to follow if you’re looking to stay stylish amidst the cold.
Ashley Greene commented on the swanky accessory saying, “Gosh, I really loved that bandeau belt they had. It gave everything this really cool edge. And I absolutely loved having it around those really big jackets. Listen: no-one wants to wear a puffy coat - you're in New York - and this gave it some shape."
