Going to Great Lengths: The Dos & Don’ts to Faster Hair Growth

These days, women go to great lengths to get long, luxurious locks.

Some women coat their hair with masques and serums in hopes for model-like tresses, while others sit in a salon for hours getting extremely expensive extensions put in.

While extensions are a safe, wonderful and quick way to a long, magnificent mane – that beauty procedure isn’t in everyone’s budget. So, we’ve done our research and have some advice to share with you concerning natural hair growth. Follow these rules and you will be well on your way to longer hair in no time!

DON’T Cut Your Hair Every 6-8 Weeks: The number one thing people think they need to do with their hair to stimulate growth is to trim it every 6-8 weeks. However, that’s not necessarily true. If you don’t have any split ends, it’s not necessary for you to cut your hair at all – let it keep growing! It you DO notice split ends, either have your hair stylist trim your ends or you can even take the shears to them – cutting off only the split ends! Seriously though, no split ends? Then, no cutting needed!

DO Use A Quality Brush: Professionals say that using a boar bristle brush helps to stimulate the hair follicles on your scalp as well as moves your hair’s natural oils down the hair shafts encouraging new growth.

DON’T Be Rough On Hair When Its Wet: When you get out of the shower, refrain from twisting and drying your hair vigorously with a towel. Our hair is most breakable when its wet, so try not to be too rough on it until it’s dry. Instead, pat your hair with a towel gently to avoid breakage.

DO Use Protective Serums on Hair When Styling: Serums help to protect your hair from the heat emitted from blow-dryers, straighteners, and any other styling tools you use frequently. Try using Bed Head’s Glaze Haze or Sedu Anti-Frizz Polishing Treatment with pure Moroccan Argan Oil to keep hair looking healthy, shiny and breakage free!

DON’T Wash Hair Everyday: Before you get grossed out, it’s actually better to wash your hair every other day as opposed to every single day. This allows your hair to produce natural oils and moisturize itself. Use a dry shampoo in between showers to keep your hair from looking too greasy.
