Masculine touches and statement pieces have invaded women’s fashion.

Bow ties, chiffon neckties, suspenders and cummerbunds are just a few looks we’re borrowing from the boys this season.

Creating a bow tie is an extremely easy DIY project you can do at home. This item can be worn on any occasion and will have you looking like an envy-worthy fashionista!

Follow the instructions below to create your very own stylish bow tie!

What you’ll need:
- A 6” x 3.5’ piece of velvet or leather
- A 0.75” x 2.5” piece of velvet or leather
- A 1” pin back
- Hot glue gun
- Ruler
- Pen

How to:
- Take the larger piece of fabric you’re working with and draw a line down the middle both vertically and horizontally. This should create 4 equal quarters.
- Pinch the fabric with your fingers where the two lines intersect.
- Flip the fabric over while still pinching, and put a drop of hot glue in the center.
- Fold the fabric in half lengthwise, pressing the two sides closed.
- Place a drop of hot glue on the backside where the crease is along the vertical line.
-Then, pull the fabric back open, just enough to press a portion on the fabric together on the part you just glued.
- Basically what you’re doing is an accordion fold. So, now you’ll place a small dab of glue in the middle along the vertical line and fold again.
- Continue this process on both sides until your fabric starts to look like a bow tie.
- Flip the bow tie over so its back is facing up.
- Glue one end of the small fabric piece into the center of the bow tie. Wrap around the center and glue the other end onto the back as well.
- Glue the pin back onto the backside of the bow.
- Allow it to dry before use.

*After wrapping a small fabric piece around the middle, try gluing a small brooch on top for added pizzazz!

A simpler style you can try it as follows:

- Take some leather ribbon and tie it in a bow.
- Glue a pin back to the backside of the bow.
- Allow it to dry before use.
