DIY Jason Wu Lace Trim Sweatshirt
When we think Jason Wu we think feminine, elegant, timeless fashions.
He is the genius designer behind that breath-taking one-shoulder, draped white chiffon ball gown First Lady Michelle Obama wore to the 2009 inaugural ball and his designs have been in high-demand ever sense.
Wu designed a casual, yet classy wool-knit sweatshirt for his Autumn 2011 collection with delicate lace trim along the sides. The versatility of this item is almost as wonderful as its appearance! This sweatshirt can be worn both casually and formally. Either way, you’ll be looking comfy, cozy and incredibly chic all at the same time!
This sweatshirt will cost you $1,195 in stores. So, unless this is a “Merry Christmas to me” kind of a purchase, a $2,000 sweatshirt may be slightly out of your holiday season budget.
However, behind every high-priced, must-have-now, designer piece there stands a fun, surprisingly easy DIY project - as is the case for this Jason Wu Lace Trim Wool Sweatshirt. So, grab your craft materials and let us ‘Wu’ you!
What you’ll need:
- Lightweight, gray wool sweatshirt
- Scalloped black lace
- Needle & black thread
- Pins
- Scissors
How to:
- Pin the scalloped lace onto the sweatshirt. You can place it along the sides of the sleeves to mimic Wu’s design. Or, you can pin the lace along the shoulder seams on the front of the sweatshirt and all the way down to the bottom.
- Carefully, hand stitch the lace onto the sweatshirt.
Something to keep in mind: Wu has recently struck a deal with Target to be the retail giant’s next designer to create a collection for their Go International program. Check out the story here!
