DIY Turban Headband

The turban headband is one of this season’s biggest trends. Celebrities such as Nicole Richie, Khloe Kardashian and Ashley Olsen can be seen sporting this look, fiercely, around Tinseltown.

Even Carrie Bradshaw rocked the turban look in “Sex in the City: The Movie”. Let’s be honest though, what look doesn’t that woman pull off?

This particular look is so very mod, and can add a little pizzazz to any outfit. You can buy turban headbands at your local retailer. However, you can also create this look very easily yourself at home with a large square scarf – and who doesn’t have a scarf lying around? Rather, whose mother or grandmother doesn’t have a scarf lying around? We’ll be describing two ways you can make your turban headband. The first way is so that you get the knot effect on the front. The other achieves more of a crossover effect.

What you’ll need:
- 1 large square scarf (Any fabric – silk, cotton, etc…)
- Bobby pins (optional)

Knot Look - How to:
- Lay your scarf flat.
- Take opposite corners of the scarf and fold then together. This should make one big triangle shape with your fabric.
- Start at the top of the triangle and keep folding the fabric down so that eventually you are left with a really long rectangular shape.
- Hold the scarf around your head and tie in FRONT once so that you have bunny ears.
- Tie again so that you have a double knot.
- Take the bunny ears from the front of your head, bring them to the back and tie behind your head. You can double knot or pin in place so that they stay.

Crossover Look – How to:
- Repeat the first 3 steps above.
- Now hold your scarf around your head and tie it in the BACK first.
- Bring the bunny ears around to the front of your head and instead of knotting them, simply cross them over each other - making an X with the bunny ears.*
- Bring the strands to the back of your head and knot again or pin the strands to secure them.

*Tip: You can twist the bunny ears before you cross them over each other to create a more original look with your turban.
