Seasonal Planning: Our Complete Spring Style Forecast

A new season is here, and we're looking forward to the fabulous fashions this spring is forecasting. And, If the runway shows are any indication of what’s to come, then the upcoming months are going to be haute.

Read on for a list of the top 10 trends to look for right now.

Crop Out
Keep doing crunches ladies, because crop tops aren’t going anywhere. The ab-flashing top hit multiple catwalks including Lela Rose, Tracy Reese and 3.1 Phillip Lim. We’ll be seeing it in two forms this spring – a sophisticated look made of fabrics like satin, which reveal just a sliver of skin, as well as nylon and cotton stomach-baring styles. We’ve already renewed our gym membership!

Flower Power
Designers put their green thumbs to work, adding floral prints to dresses, pants, jackets and sweatshirts. Although floral is used every spring season, new takes caught our attention. Oscar de la Renta showed off edgy black and white garden motifs, while Tommy Hilfiger revealed Hawaiian blossoms. We’ll choose a flowery wardrobe over a bouquet of roses any day!

Sheer Perfection
Adding a dose of sex appeal, see-through pieces dominated the runways last fall. While some left little to the imagination (like Milly by Michelle Smith), others including Zac Posen went for transparent sleeves and hemlines. We love the way it added an airy feel to the overall look.

50 Shades of White
Not only was there a white-out on the catwalk, but models also donned the muted hue from head to toe! Derek Lam, Carolina Herrera and Victoria Beckham all layered colorless pieces with different textures to make a serious sartorial statement. If snow white isn’t your style, cream and ivory will also be popular looks for the upcoming season.

Warm-Weather Leather
Skin is in, and leather’s getting a piece of the action, too! The fabric was made into mini dresses, vests, tanks and skirts, and used to accent our favorite staple pieces. We also saw shiny slouchy trousers hit the runway at Balmain, while Celine used the textile to make a more luxurious blazer. No matter how you wear it, we guarantee you’ll be looking haute.

A Real Shiner
Metallic fabric replaced sequins during spring's fashion week. Whether it was dazzling gold, sparkly silvers, or bold blues, Diane von Furstenberg, Jason Wu and Thakoon all used shimmering looks to make their models stand out. Flashiness is in!

Boho-Chic
Three words: Wide-leg pants. This silhouette was all over the spring 2014 runway, and we mean all over. The look is what we like to call hippie haute. One that exudes a free spirit, yet harnesses everything we love about crisp style. Pair the bottoms with a crop top or a slim-fitting top.

The Boys are Back in Town
Victoria Beckham and Thakoon were just two designers who incorporated menswear into their collections. We can expect lots of relaxed tailored pieces from blouses, jackets and trousers. Men’s sportswear also hit center stage with basketball jersey-style dresses (compliments of Tommy Hilfiger), wedged high-top sneakers, track pants and baseball jackets. Cozy but chic, what more could we ask for?

Pretty Pastels
Neutrals are taking a backseat this year to pastel colors. Lilac, mint, yellow, citrus, powder blue, and blush pink paraded down almost every runway, infusing styles with a gentle softness. It certainly fulfills our sweet tooth for feminine and flirty.

Groovy Jumpsuits
The 70s made a blast from the past with beautiful flowing jumpsuits. Whether wide-leg, slouched, or cropped, a floor-length romper is perfect for any occasion! We had a big soft spot for Marc by Marc Jacobs' satin styles, which came in vibrant prints as well as shiny metallics.
