A little precipitation can’t stop celebrities from looking their best. A-listers put their fashionable foot forward on the rain-soaked red carpet for the 86th Academy Awards on Sunday (March 2).
Whether actresses pulled inspiration from Lupita Nyongo’s unbelievable Golden Globes cape gown or wanted to show off their own classic Hollywood style, draped dresses reigned supreme outside the Dolby Theatre. Here’s who cape-tured our attention:
Camila Alves: The starlet was draped with elegance in a Gabriela Cadena blushed-tone gown, which featured a long train, structured shoulders, and a plunging back. Adding just a few extra touches, she accessorized with Charlotte Olympia heels, Lorraine Schwartz jewels — and hubby Matthew McConaughey.
Kate Hudson: The 34-year-old can do no wrong, but she looked extra haute at the event in a flowing Altelier Versace dress that showed off all her best assets. She complemented her look with side-swept loose curls and Neil Lane jewels, which helped to land her on our best dressed list
Penelope Cruz: The actress looked like a Greek goddess arriving to the Academy Awards in a toga-eque gown by Giambattista Valli that boasted with layers of fabrics that she wrapped herself in throughout the night. Keeping her dress the main focus, she chose a simple updo and accessorized with Chopard earrings.
Jada Pinkett Smith: She may have arrived with husband Will Smith, but all eyes were on Jada and her whimsical haltered Versace dress. The pink hue and unique train shined on the red carpet as did her Cartier jewels and Ferragamo shoes and clutch.
