E-commerce websites and debit cards have largely replaced brick-and-mortar stores and cash, but with a string of data leaks as of late, it’s time to be smart about online shopping.

The latest victim of cyberattacks is eBay, and they are telling all users to change their passwords, not just on eBay but on every sensitive website.

A statement from a company rep reads, "After conducting extensive tests on its networks, the company said it has no evidence of the compromise resulting in unauthorized activity for eBay users, and no evidence of any unauthorized access to financial or credit card information, which is stored separately in encrypted formats. However, changing passwords is a best practice and will help enhance security for eBay users."

Furthermore, the breach (which unveiled user names, encrypted passwords, addresses and dates of birth) took place between February and March and was just detected two weeks ago.
