Lawsuit Against Alexander Wang: Moving to Federal Court
As a follow-up to the DIY Fashion report on Alexander Wang’s legal woes, it seems the iconic designer is deeper in the mire than he originally thought.
According to a new update, Wang’s $50 million lawsuit has been transferred to Federal Court and could be a much bigger deal than the initial complaint.
The original Queens Supreme Court case was filed by Wenyu Lu, a former employee of Wang’s company, who complained that he and his fellow workers were subjected to horrible conditions and long hours under Alexander’s employ.
Among the details submitted- “we were forced to work 16 hours a day or longer- without overtime- in a suffocating, windowless, 200-square-foot room.”
Another former employee named Flor Duante also filed a lawsuit, claiming that Wang forced them to work 90+ hour weeks. The Federal Court case will begin later this year.
