NYFW Emergency: Why Nicole Miller's Shoes Were Stopped By U.S. Customs

Her collection is scheduled to take the runway later today (February 10), however, the shoes Nicole Milller's models are supposed to strut down the catwalk in nearly didn't make it to New York Fashion Week at all (GASP)!
As reported by WWD, the longtime fashion designer had 20 pairs specially-crafted snake-printed shoes created in Asia specifically for the show, but when she tried to ship them to the U.S. en route to NYC, customs refused to let them in.
The issue at hand was the footwear's material, as American officials believed Miller actually used real snake.
After a month-long negotiation and putting taking a bout of sandpaper to the shoes to prove the truth, the highly-contested slippers finally got the "all-clear."
Whew!
