With the holiday season in full swing, your social calendar is probably packed with all sorts of party invites from office folks, relatives and friends!
With the variety of bashes you’re set to attend, you better be sure to dress the part for each one. What may be appropriate for your best friend’s cocktail party may not be fitting for a company gathering.
So, to ensure you rock the right type of threads to every event, we’ve put together a style guide for you to take your fashion queues from. Read up!
For an Office Party: The rule of thumb here is not to stray too far from the norm of what you usually wear during your 9-to-5 grind. Because the event will be packed with your professional peers, you want to don something that screams "sophisticated and sexy" without trying too hard or appearing inappropriate. So, we suggest pairing a blazer with a trendy shift dress for the daytime. Then, once the soiree begins, lose the jacket for a more party-ready look. If you prefer pants, throw a sequin tank underneath a blazer for the first half of the day, and then shed the layering option once the hors d'oeuvres make their rounds.
For a Cocktail Party: One word: sequins. The flirty embellishment is huge this season. We love the look of this type of dress paired with sky-high heels and swanky-looking jewelry. Steer clear of statement necklaces though. Paired with sequins, it could look too busy or overwhelming. Stick to simple drop earrings and/or a fun cocktail ring.
For a Family Function: You’ll be snapping family pictures throughout the evening, so you don’t want to be wearing anything too suggestive or low-cut. Instead, opt for something with a high neckline and a skirt that won’t cause any Britney moments. A long sleeve dress is perfect as it shows off your figure, yet in a subtly sexy kind of way. Paired with chunky booties, tights, and a statement necklace, this ensemble will effortlessly show off your fashion chops to the fam.
To a New Year’s Eve Bash: This is the perfect occasion to get all gussied up and glamify your entire look! For this type of event, we suggest selecting a dress that’s going to show off your best asset. If you’re proud of your arms or your … ehm … girls, then slip into a sexy strapless dress and rock it with some strappy heels and eye-popping accessories. Obsessed with your mile-long legs? Then opt for a long sleeve mini dress to show off your gams. Remember the golden rule though, ladies: If you’re showing lots of skin on the upper half of your body, then opt for more coverage on the bottom half and vice versa.
