Proving to be one of the most stylish events of the year, stars showed up to Sunday's (November 18) American Music Awards in looks by some of the biggest names in fashion.
While many of the night's celebs proved their sartorial know-how, other ensembles fell far short from winning top spot on our red carpet roundup.
Taylor Swift: The country superstar took a fashion risk, ditching her normal floor-length gown for something a little more revealing—and it totally paid off! Miss Swift rocked a super short, super sexy Zuhair Murad sequin dress (which showed off her mega- gams) with strappy metallic heels and a sleek pulled back ‘do. We have a feeling Conor Kennedy is feeling a little remorseful right now…
Ke$ha: Not normally one to make a best dressed list, the “Die Young” singer turned up to last night’s show in a uncharacteristically ladylike getup. Going for a majorly subdued look, the pop star donned a pretty pink petal dress along with ‘50s-inspired soft waves and a killer gold ear cuff. We applaud the makeover—what a transformation!
Carrie Underwood: Miss Underwood looked like a total knockout in a sultry purple Abed Mahfouz sequin dress, which was equipped with a high neckline and capped sleeves. Paired with metallic accessories, glamorous makeup and beachy waves, the country songstress looked like a total babe … but doesn’t she always?
Stacey Keibler: Sure, her Colette Dinnigan mini dress was oh, so spectacular, but look at those legs! Wow. George Clooney’s main squeeze looked absolutely stunning in the opulent number, which was paired with metallic accessories and sky-high pumps.
Heidi Klum: Always one to show a little (or a lot) of skin on the red carpet, the “Project Runway” host looked like the picture of perfection in a short Alexander Vauthier dress, which featured exquisite lace detailing and a dangerously high slit. Opting for pulled back locks and smoldering makeup, the German glamazon looked simply stunning from head-to-toe.
Jordin Sparks: She’s worked so hard to tone up over the past year, and why she chose a frumpy Etra frock to cover it all up—we don’t know. Jordin should have opted for something short and sexy to show off her svelte bod! Maybe next time…
Nicki Minaj: Julie Bowen ROCKED this Monique Lhuiller number at the 2012 Emmy’s, but Minaj… eh, not so much. Everything about her look was simply over the top, from her hair to her accessories. Two thumbs down for this look.
Christina Aguilera: The good news is, we loved the color of her Ombré Pamella Roland gown—but that’s it. Everything else was just BAD. The cut of the dress was very awkward and unflattering, as was her makeup job. Her face was too dark against the platinum wig she wore, and needed to be toned down a few notches. Opt for some natural beauty next time, Christina—you’ve got what it takes!
Phoebe Price: No. Just, no. The socialite/singer turned up to last night’s event in a gaudy gold getup that made her guilty of all kinds of fashion faux pas. You should always go for ONE statement piece, and hers was comprised of many (the dress, her earrings, her hair…), which made her look utterly tacky.
